• Hi there! I just moved a site I built on my domain name for testing to my friends domain name with her hosting provider – go daddy. I followed the directions and it worked great! I went to the URL and the homepage looked perfect! Then I clicked on an interior page and it reverted back to the old site on MY domain. I figured I should login to the admin and change where the pages were pointing but when I go to the new url/wp-admin I get a page that says “your wordpress site is up to date” I click OK and it takes me to the OLD admin! I called GoDaddy and they say it’s a WorkPress issue??? What do I do?

I’ve had this problem as well–and, believe me, I have reviewed the codex quite few times, as well, as a lot of trouble-shooting tips. In my case, what may be confusing the issue is that the old host was using the same URL as the new one–the site was forwarding to the old host, where all the files resided. We decided to install WP directly on the site, removing forwarding, but each time I start to install it, and manipulate the files, it is “snatched” back to the old host–the database error screen comes up, and i can’t log in to the new dashboard–I have to use old password and the old pages are up.

What I’m wondering is, does WordPress “look” for the associated files across the web, and somehow find the old databases? Do these need to be completely removed to start the site fresh if the urls are the same for both sites, despite pointing the wp-config to a new database?

The client would prefer I do not include the site url’s in this post because they are a security firm…
