Changed host password, now can't reach admin panel

    I recently updated my password with my web host (Just Host). I then updated the DB_USER password in the wp-config file and thought I should be good to go. However, now trying to log into the admin panel only refreshed the admin page.

    Things I’ve tried:
    – clearing my browser cache
    – using wp-login.php without the redirect
    – changing my password directly in the DB
    – disabling the plugin folder
    – renaming the theme folder
    – double checking the permissions on the wp-admin folder (set to 755)
    – copying the entire database to a backup and using that

    What am I missing?

    Looks like you have performed the basic troubleshooting.

    I don’t know if you use CloudFlare or not but if you do I would suggest deactivating it and seeing if it helps. Also sometimes a good purge of the cache on CloudFlare can help.

    Also, some of my plugins seem to still be working, some don’t. Either way, renaming the entire plugin folder didn’t help.

    Can you log into Justhost with this NEW password?

    Yeah, I can log into the host with the new password just fine (access cpanel, phpMyAdmin, etc.) The wordpress site was down until I updated wp-config with the new password. Now my site is back up (for the most part), but I can’t log in.

    Site came back itself? then wait a little while; your login issue may also go away.

    No, I meant after the password change I received a database error. Once updated wp-config with the new password, that error went away.

    Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.

    I think I’ve cleared the server cache, definitely cleared the browser cache, and don’t think I’m using any caching plugins (is there a way to check?). Still not working.

    try resetting the plugins folder by FTP.

    Oh, I’ve done that already. No difference with all plugins disabled.
