I am presuming you are updating files on the repository hosted plugin which hasn’t shown as updated due to you not changing the version number.

I would like to call attention to something you might not be considering. I have several sites with your plugin installed. I also have Wordfence plugin installed.

Wordfence checks files installed on websites with files hosted on www.remarpro.com. When a discrepancy arises, owners of websites are alerted with changed file warnings. They do that to help website owners and managers to protect their own sites.

When an author starts changing files hosted on www.remarpro.com and doesn’t change the version of the plugin, they can cause unnecessary concern for owners and managers of websites.

There have been a number of plugins hosted on www.remarpro.com in recent months that were used to do malicious things or used to market inappropriately which had to be fixed. When you choose to update files on www.remarpro.com and not cause an update notification for your plugin, many people become confused and wonder if their sites are being hacked, or the owner of the plugin is writing code to do things that shouldn’t be done.

Please consider updating your plugin version so that there is a notice to update instead of us receiving warnings that the www.remarpro.com hosted version of your plugin is different from what is installed on our sites.

Please also consider there is justifiable reasoning for being concerned when a warning is issued by a security plugin, due to plugin file differences between www.remarpro.com hosted files and files installed on websites.

    Thanks

  • We did not changed the version for a minor updates done with last push, hence you are not getting the notice to update to the new version. That’s why, there is a minor code difference between your plugin and the one in WordPress SVN repo.

We will be updating the plugin with a translation update in couple of days.

If you want to get rid of the notice, you can delete the existing plugin and download a new copy of the plugin from here.

I have over 100 sites your plugin installed on. It is a completely ridiculous expectation that I need to manually delete your plugin to get rid of security warnings. You are creating unnecessary concerns for me.

It shouldn’t be a necessity for users to manually delete your plugin in order to avoid unnecessary warnings that the Repository version is different from the installed version.

What a shame, you think that’s the way things should be done.

Guess I don’t need your plugin that much. Thanks

    Hi @brazen-links,

We will be updating the plugin with new changes and obviously the version change in a day or two.
