• Dear @anlino,

Since the most recent WordPress update to 6.5, the nested groups are not working properly in terms of alignment.

    Examples:

    1. I have a group set to full width with an accent color. Within this is another group with a wide width containing further content. The nested group, which is set to wide width, is suddenly shown at full width. A live example can be found at https://hijis.nl/, on all underlying blocks under the cover.
    2. Same as above, but the nested group is set to the default width. The content is now suddenly centered instead of being placed on the default alignment. A live example of this can be found at https://hijis.nl/uitgelogd/, the first anthracite-colored block.

It is striking that this happens after the WordPress update. I have not made any adjustments myself.

Do you have any idea how I can solve this?

    Hi @wolterthisj,

It seems this is a bug in WordPress 6.5 affecting all classic themes setting a maximum width for Wide blocks with CSS. I’ve created an issue for the bug in the Gutenberg repository. For now, you can revert to WordPress 6.4 to fix the issue.

Thank you for your help, sorting things out and submitting a ticket!
I’ve downgraded WordPress for now and hope the WordPress team picks this up soon. Thanks again!

@woltersthijs Of course! There’s been some movement in the thread, so I’m crossing my fingers there’ll be a fix in 6.5.1.

    Dear @anlino,

I ran WordPress 6.4.3 as a fallback version for a while and thought that the issue would be resolved when 6.5.2 was released. The ticket you mentioned is also closed.

However, the problem remains the same, so I had to go back to 6.4.3 again. Have I overlooked something? Or is the issue in something else?

Do you have more insight into this?

    Hi @woltersthisj,

The ticket has been closed but the fix didn’t make it into 6.5.2, so I’m hoping it’ll be included in 6.5.3.

    Hi @anlino

Thank you for your quick response!

Is there any way I can see if it has been included in a new update? So I don’t have to keep trying out updates? And of course you don’t have to worry about it either? ??

@wolterthisj Sure thing. If you subscribe to the issue on GitHub, you should get a message when it’s been labeled for inclusion in a 6.5.x release.
