I am going to be the one who adds users. No registration option will be available to users. So, when I create a new user and password, and activate, I want the user name, password I created, and site login link as the url not the WP page login.

Right now the url is the WP login page that includes a default password, not the not the one I created. And it doesn’t show anywhere in the email text the password I created. How do I make these changes? I assume the url issue has something to do with the shortcode [reglink]??? And none of what is on the “Dialogs” is being used for registration notification to new user. This is confusing for me.

This is what I want it to have sent to the new user after I check activate:

EXAMPLE:

Welcome to Waterstone Property Owners Association website. You are now a new user as a Waterstone property owner. Please log in with the following username and password provided. You may reset your password if you so wish. Just go to the “password reset” link once you are logged in. Feel free to contact the webmaster for any website issues.

Username: lot134a
Password: 27^k***********

I found this tutorial but not certain how to utilize it, if at all.

I just deactivated the test user and reactivated it. And it actually sent the notification content within the “Dialogs” for new user registration! Yet, it didn’t include the password. But it had the right Welcome content and the correct url link, which is nice. Have no idea what is going on here. But at least there is progress, I think??

1. It seems now that I have experimented with a couple new test users that the first issue above happens when I create a user without activating. It sends an email notification to the user with the default WP login, etc. I THINK WHEN I FIRST CREATE A USER I CAN UNCHECK “Send the new user an email about their account.” AT LEAST USER WON’T GET THE ONE WITH THE WP LOGIN. BUT THAT OPTION DISAPPEARS ONCE IT’S UNCHECKED AND SAVED FOR FUTURE CHANGES.

2. Then when I go back in and activate that user, it sends the correct email notification to user with “Welcome….” but doesn’t show the password. AND THE PASSWORD SHORTCODE IS THERE. I SAW THIS IN YOUR TUTORIAL. I DO HAVE REGISTRATION MODERATED EVEN THOUGH I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CREATES USERS. AND SINCE SETTING UP A NEW USER, UNCHECKING SEND EMAIL, DONT’ ACTIVATE, AND THEN SAVE, IN ORDER TO STOP HAVING THE DEFAULT WP LOGIN USED…I CAN’T GET THE WELCOME EMAIL WHEN ACTIVATED TO INCLUDE THE PASSWORD.

https://rocketgeek.com/plugins/wp-members/docs/customizing-emails/email-shortcodes/
“If you have added a password field to the registration process AND you have set the plugin to moderate registrations for admin approval, you cannot send the password in the “user is approved” email. If you intend to email a copy of the user’s login credentials in this configuration, you MUST do it in the initial welcome email. That means you will need to make some changes to the fields that are included in the default emails.”

THE WELCOME EMAIL CONTENT IS AS FOLLOWS:
Welcome to the Waterstone community! Your registration as a Property Owner & Member of the Waterstone Property Owners Association (POA) has been approved. As a logged in member you will have access to important communications, documents, POA meeting announcements, and published posts on a variety of activities and events available to you as a Waterstone property owner.

Your registration information is below. You may wish to retain a copy for your records. Please keep your username and password in a safe but accessible location.
username: [username]
password: [password]
You may log in and change your password here:
[user-profile]

3. I then go in and change the password. The user gets another email notification as follows, which I can’t find anywhere in the “Dialogs” or “Emails” tabs. And it’s missing the date of the change and the new password in the content as well.
EXAMPLE:
Hi lot134b,
This notice confirms that your password was changed on .
If you did not change your password, please contact the Site Administrator at website@waterstone….

I wish I could delete all my previous ramblings. I am so sorry. But this has been a hard process for me. I decided to uncheck moderation since I am the only one creating users. I thought if I did that when I created a new user, checked to send email to user, and activated it, the right email message would be sent to the new user.

But alas, it still sends the WP default login link that includes a WP default password, not the one I created. And it doesn’t show anywhere in the email text the password I created.

Here is what the WP default message says as example:
Subject: Your username and password info
Username: lot1xxxxx
To set your password, visit the following address:
<https://xxxxxxxxx.com/txxxxx/?action=rp&key=zWAkwPVX8zRn6UeTehz8&login=lot1xxxxx>
https://xxxxxxxxxx.com/txxxxx/

Here is what the “New Registration” email message says I created in the Emails tab:
Subject: You have been registered for [blogname]
Body: Welcome to Waterstone POA website.
Your registration information is below.
You may wish to retain a copy for your records.
username: [username]
password: [password]
email: [email]
You may log in here: [login]

So, I am still stuck with what to do. Again, my apologies. Really appreciate your help on this. What a learning curve this one is!
