• I set up WP (and also my domain) on my host already 1,5 years ago but since then did not come back to it which I want to do now. In the meanwhile the name of my project changed and I bought a new domain, which should be ofc also visable for my visitors in the browserline.
So my host support replied to my, that I still should use my old domain where the homepage is located, as my main domain and park the new bought domain, to have a redirection to it.
The problem I have with this is, that when I go to my homepage under the new domain, the URL adress immediately changes and in the browserline is always my old domain visible.
If I go under the WP settings in my general profile, I also see under WordPress-URL my old domain, which I cannot change.

Is there any solution to it?? THank you!

  • If you can’t change the domain name in WordPress it is probably because someone set that from the wp-config.php file for whatever reason…

This document should be able to guide you through this process within WordPress…

You might need to point the domain to the proper directory in your web host’s control panel as it may be pointing at a subdirectory where the redirect occurs right now. Your host should be able to guide you there.

    Thanks for your reply.
I contacted my host already 2 times for it but somehow I express myself not good enough or they cannot/don’t want to help me with it.
They said I should delete my parked domain and then everything will be fine, but ofc it is not.
If I change the main domain in the hosting settings to my new domain as wanted, I get an error on my website URL saying that I have to delete some default.php file which I cannot find.
The link you sent me I tried to read, but honestly, I am way to newbie to understand and have confidence in changing this myself. I hope my host will come back to me.

I think in the end, I will have to delete my website from my current host.. reset everything and start from scratch and install WP on my new domain.
