Change word “Item” in the player control bar

These phrases are using the language hooks. So you can either use your translations plugin or PHP code like this: https://foliovision.com/player/developers/api-programming#customizing-translations

The phrase to target is:

Item %d.

I put in a code sample which works for that exact phrase.

Do I add this to my functions.php?

Do you just change this text: Item %d. to Channel?

you, you can put it in your theme functions.php.

You can change it to “Channel” like you said. The %d part is the placeholder for number, so if you would like to remove the number, do not include it.

I added that code to the end of the functions.php
But I was unable to access the wp dashboard, it had a blank page.

What’s the translations plugin? maybe I’ll try this instead.

I tried to copy that exact code from our website to my functions.php and it worked fine. Perhaps there was a problem with how you inserted that code.

But I see it’s just too inconvenient.

I found the Translate Words plugin can be used to change these translation phrases. It’s pretty lightweight, so I added it to our guide now:

That should make it a lot easier for all of our users.
