Change website URL to Root Domain….

Hi,

We’ve installed our wordpress installation in the sub directory/folder permet.co/publication already but we wanted to have the homepage under our current homepage: permet.co

We’ve tried changing the URL in settings so have the directory at permet.co/publicationa and the homepage at permet.co, but it seemed we lost our post paths and ended up with 403 all over even after editing the confid file our API wasn’t working.

Is there a fail safe way to move the main url without needing to migrate installation folders. How to keep it clean and have proper htaccess files.
