change unconfirmed users status

  • I see my users list and get all users as “Subscriber”, even the unconfirmed.

    I need to find a way to change the unconfirmed user’s status to “pending”, “unconfirmed” or something different than “Subscriber”.

    Could anyone be so kind as to explain me how to do it (without plugins, please)?
