change the title of Recent Posts widget to something else

I’m running WP 3.0.5 and have a child theme of Thematic called Overhall-Grassroots. In the sidebar I want to use the Recent Posts widget but I want to change the title ‘Recent Posts’ to something else. Is this possible?

Another question is how do I get rid of the meta information beneath the post’s title?

For both these questions I’ve looked in functions.php but can’t find anything.
