actually i want to change the sort order of the jetpack portfolio page to newest first on the home page. it’s using the portolio shortcode https://davidlamplugh.com/

The portfolio shortcode doesn’t have an attribute for the sort order – you can see all the available options here:

You can always try modifying the publication date of the portfolio projects to tweak the display order.

HMM. Weird because everything else like say blog posts and the admin screen shows in descending order. I guess file it under nice to haves. thanks.

I hear you! I did actually file an enhancement ticket to have a sort order attribute added to the shortcode to allow for more flexibility on the display. I’m not sure when that might happen, but it’s been requested by other folks so it may eventually be a feature that gets added.

Hi Eric, I wanted to let you know that it’s now possible to order portfolio projects in several different ways using the shortcode with Jetpack 3.3. You can learn about the new attributes (order, orderby) on the portfolio shortcode page.

I have installed Sketch, love it, and I am tweaking it.

I also want to tweak the order of the images. I have two pages where the portfolio thumbnails show: homepage and a Portfolio page. Now in both cases, where to put the shortcode? There is no actual Portfolio page, the menu link is just a link, and for the homepage, the content is set not to show. Also, since the portfolio list already shows up, will adding shortcode add another list or just modify the already showing one?

    Edeau54 – glad you’re liking Sketch!

To change the order of the portfolio projects on dynamically generated pages (i.e. pages where you’re not using the shortcode) you’ll need to modify the publication date of each project. The projects are displayed in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published projects displayed first.

If you opt instead to use a static page with the portfolio shortcode instead of the dynamically generated pages, you can use the order and orderby attributes to modify the order.

If you need further help, could you please start a new thread rather than adding to this old resolved one? Thanks!
