    Hi,

I need your help. I have build a custom taxonomy with CPT UI called “Speed” it is a non hierarchical taxonomy, which should have items like “6,0 km/h”, my problem now is that I can’t insert this to my post, because the items get separated by a comma. So at the end the post has “6” & “0 km/h” as items for “speed”.

I think the reason is that I use the tag metabox (post_tags_meta_box), but I also have no idea if creating a new, own metabox is a possible solution. Otherwise changing the separating comma to another character would be perfect

Can somebody help me with this dilemma?
The category meta box (post_categories_meta_box) is not a solution for me.

    Thank you very much.

    Hendrik

    Hi @p1commerce

I would say instead of having the “tag” version, just switch your taxonomy to hierarchical via the setting for that in CPTUI, that way you get the checkbox version like you see with categories. Then you could create the terms with commas in the names, but not the slugs, and get everything you need.

No mucking about with customizing metaboxes or anything like that.

    Hi Michael,

thank you for fast response and help, but as I have written, the category metabox is no solution for me. I need an input like I have with the tag metabox (without checkboxes) and I need to be able to insert the items with comma on the post page itself.

    Best regards

    Ahh, hmm.

This isn’t really something specific to CPTUI, so there’s not really something for our plugin to help out with this.

I was going to suggest perhaps creating the terms ahead of time, but with my quick testing, and the comma so close to the front of the term, trying to get the auto-suggest to trigger would be difficult

I am curious why the checkbox/category version isn’t an option, but that’s more for general information. Is just a different input type an option? Like a select or radio button?
