• I know WordPress started out as a blogging app, but it’s commonly used as a CMS these days. I have some users using WordPress and they’re confused whenever they see a reference in the interface to “blog” when really it’s referring to the entire WP install, or site.

An example of this would be Settings > Privacy:
I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Bing, Technorati) and archivers

That should read site or similar. Otherwise users think it refers only to the blog portion of the WP install.

  • if you want to change it, it’s here:
    \wp-admin\options-privacy.php

Right, but when I update WP, that will get overwritten, correct? Plus there’s other locations as well, that’s just one example.
