Change subfolder name

I have a WordPress installation (2.7RC1) in a subfolder of my website https://www.mydomain.com/wp. I would like to change the name of the subfolder to /blog so that the complete url is https://www.mydomain.com/blog. Is there a way to do this and still keep current internal and external links from breaking? Would adding a redirect in the .htaccess file do the trick? Any help would be much appreciated!
