Change Scoring Options

    Hi Antoine,

    is it possible to change the Scoring Options?
    Our league has a slightly difference with your options:

    points
    toto score 1 = the same way to calculate
    full score 3 = the same way to calculate
    goal bonus 0 = we don’t use it
    goal difference bonus 2 = for us it’s not a bonus, this means that if you put 2-1 and the final result is 3-2 you get 2 points. Same things for draws: you put 2-2 and final score is 0-0 you get 2 points.

    Is there a way to adjust it? Do we have to change something? Thanks again

    Hi,

    It is possible to change the scoring in the plugin, but it can get complicated. Especially when you also want to update the data in the charts.

    The way to go, is to use the filters (hooks) in the plugin to change the behavior. This requires some PHP knowledge and maybe also some SQL. I have an example in the first post of this forum. This example is not exactly what you want, but it shows the way how it is done.

    Do you have in mind to implement different ways of calculations in future?

    I’ve seen that also some small mods (like the save button on top) could be also useful for everybody.

    No, there are no plans in implementing different calculations. The current setup of the plugin has options to extend the functionality. Adding more features and/or exceptions will make it (much) harder to maintain the plugin or extend it.

    But I do have plans for a more modular setup of the plugin that will make it possible and easier to create different types of pools (and thus calculations). This is all still in a concept phase, but if it works like I envision it, then ultimately it should be possible to host a football pool for the World Cup together with a football pool for a national competition. And maybe even host a small pool for the winner of Wimbledon. But don’t expect this to be ready soon, it may even fail altogether as a project ??
