    Hi guys,
I’m using your plugin for a company’s blog.
The intent is that users rate the article’s content.
Right now the schema is #LocalBusiness”
The reviews appear in the SERP

Do you recommend changing the schema type?
Only options I see are LocalBusiness and Product.
Could you guide me to change it to HowTo? (in case it’s advisable).
I’m afraid I could mess things up

    Best,
    Ian

It depends what the reviews are for.

If people are reviewing the blog posts, then yes you should change the schema type. Site Reviews allows you to set a custom Schema Type, but you should be aware of which schema types Google will allow for Rich Results. You can read more about that here: https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2019/09/making-review-rich-results-more-helpful

If using a custom Schema Type, make sure that you also validate the JSON-LD schema here: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results.

If your custom schema type requires additional schema fields to be valid, please see the FAQ page which explains how to add additional values to the Schema using PHP.

Alternatively, use a dedicated schema plugin to add your page schema, then link it to the Site Reviews schema by adding a @id property to each schema that you wish to link.

Thank you for your detailed answer.
Currently the stars appear on the SERP, we have 1300 reviews. I’m afraid that changing the schema could affect Google validating them.

I wouldn’t try to create a new schema but stick to the official ones. I think the HowTo is the closest thing, it’s an outdoors blog.

So there’s no straight way to change the schema to HowTo?

If available, a video example would be fantastic.

    Best.

Site Reviews is not intended to be a complete schema solution for your website. The schema option only generates the rating and review schema for your page, as well as other basic schema properties (i.e. title, description, etc) that are required for the LocalBusiness and Product schemas to validate correctly.

You can also enter a custom schema type in the settings (i.e. HowTo). However, each schema type has different property requirements. For example, the HowTo schema requires at least two steps in the schema to validate. So if you use a Custom Schema Type in the settings, then you will need to use the Rich Results tool to validate the schema for that schema type to ensure that there are no errors (otherwise it won’t be used in SERP).

    FYI:

Site Reviews v6.1.0 will allow you to integrate with the Schema Pro plugin.

Site Reviews v6.1.0 now allows you to integrate the Site Reviews schema markup with the “RankMath Pro”, “Schema Pro”, and “Schema & Structured Data” plugins!
