Change posts and categeories permalinks separately

  • Is there a way to change posts permalink only?

    I’m asking this because I would like to use the following permalink structure:

    example.com/post/%%post_id%% (for posts)
    example.com/category/%%category_id%% (for categories)

    Is that possible?

    Can anyone please help?

  • I’m currently using wordpress 2.8.4. In this version this is possible. You can go to the wordpress admin and select “Settings” -> “Permalinks”. After the default permalink settings there is a section called “Optional” that lets you set category and tag based permalinks separately. If you can’t see this I’d recommend upgrading wordpress to the latest version
