change | (pipe) in variation

  • | (pipe) is not common in europe and we do not have it designed on the keyboard in many languages. We run a multi vendor marketplace and many vendors claims that they are not able to create product variation because they do not find this symbol on the keyboard and also finding the keyboard combination in serach engine is complicated when you don’t know the symbol name.

    Do you know how to generally change all asked | (pipe) for separation to for example ; ?

  • Generally changing it would be quite difficult, not to create an issue elsewhere, if you genuinely wanted to input a question mark for instance.

    You could code a bit of javascript and load that as a MU plugin, perhaps only loading when the admin / appropriate page is loading that replaced : with | on any input field.

    I do actually do this sort of trick to change the European decimal , into the decimal . on some forms.

    You would be better of course to resolve the issue with what ever software ( plugin? ) you are using for variations ( you didn’t specify )
