    Hi again Zulf,
Is there a way to change the order of the featured posts in the grid, without changing the publication date? Changing the publication date is not a good option IMHO as readers and search engines want ‘fresh’ content, yet keeping a specific order means you have to constantly back date new posts. I would like to keep my most popular or better posts in the first row of the featured posts grid and in a certain order (some photos don’t fit side by side). Is there a way to do this other than by changing the publication date?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Cath

    Hello Cath,

Just committed an update that includes the options to change order by and display order – let me know if they meet the requirement or if there’s still some more work to do on it.

    Regards,
    Zulf

Zulfikar, this new feature is broken for me with this latest update. I started playing around with it but decided that I wanted to return to the way things were: a) the last six articles tagged “featured” displaying in the featured content section, and b) ordered from newest to oldest. No matter what I do in the Theme Customize page, however, they display from oldest to newest. I have selected “Featured Content Order By Default – By Date” and “Featured Content Display Order – Descending|Ascending order! Descending Order” but they still appear ascending.

Thanks for reporting back – revisiting the option and function to see where and why its not performing as intended.

Will make an interim fix for this prior to 1.2.4 Beta work.

    Zulf

    Hi Zulf,
    Thanks for the new update.
However, I confirm there’s a slight problem with this new feature.
The feature works fine in the combination descending/ascending with “Order By Post Name” giving alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order. However, it does not work for the “Default – by date”, neither in descending, nor in ascending order.
Actually, in both cases the posts are not ordered by date at all, but randomly.
I’ll give you the publication dates of my featured posts and their ‘real, correct’ order between brackets, so maybe you can identify a pattern.
15/3 (4); 18/3 (8); 16/3 (2); 17/3 (1); 15/3 (3); 14/3 (6); 14/3 (5); 12/3 (7). As you can see the post that should come either first or last (1), actually comes out in the middle. The post that should be last or first (8) comes out second.
So, contrary to what Firstracks sees on his site, on mine they never come out in ascending order by date, only in a seemingly random (but fixed) order.

That may well be the case.i couldn’t change the order and perhaps coincidentally the first one was the oldest. I didn’t sit down and analyze the complete order.

@cath, this is the sort of feedback that makes it much much easier to debug issues – thank you so much for that.

@firsttracks – thank you for confirming the issue.

Let me take the data and run some tests to see which part of the function/code I did not configure correctly – I’ll aim to get a fix out as soon as possible, may take a couple of days so please do bare with me ??

    Regards,
    Zulf

Same problem for me, Zulf. I’ve deactivated the plugin for now.

Would it make sense to make Version 1.2.1 available in the meantime? That version seemed bug-free.

    Thanks, Zulf, that worked!

1.2.31 appears to have fixed this issue. Thanks for addressing it so quickly, Zulf!
