Change ONLY background color around posts

I’d like whatever color I choose to show ONLY as a background color for posts, both individual posts and each post on the Home page. Make sense?

Like each post were an index card pasted to the page.

I’m using Twenty Ten.

Any ideas?

Sorry if this is basic stuff, but everything I’ve sen is for the overall background or the entire page area that holds the header and everything else.
