    Hi

I would like to translate “Older Entries” and “Newer Entries”. Both strings are called in Navigation.php as follows:

    <div class=”col-sm-6 col-md-6 nav-next”><?php previous_posts_link( __(‘Newer Entries’, ‘evolve’) ); ?></div>

However the string available in the PO file is:

    “Newer Entries <span class=”nav-meta”>»</span>”

I tried to add a new string to PO file as “Newer Entries” with my translation so not to change Navigation.php and resaved MO file but i still does not work.

    Any idea?

    Thanks

    Zulok

  • Hi,

Are you saving the mo file using a correct program, such as poedit?
    https://poedit.net/wordpress

You cannot use a text editor to save mo file.

    Thanks!

    Hi Denzel

Thank you very much. I edited the PO file, not the MO file, and then updated translations with Poedit.

However I just discovered that I am not using evolve 3.5 language file, but 3.4.4 one.

Yet I have a question, how can I reuse the already translated messages from one version language file after an upgrade for the new translation file? Restarting from scratch 1178 strings after every upgrade is difficult…

    Thanks

    Hi,

You should be able to use back the same language file unless the strings position changed… Which is very likely after an update..

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Yes I can use older files, but then I miss the possibility to include new strings. What I would like to have is a tool that merged the old translation file with my translation and the new translation file. In case some string has conflict it would allow me to decide whic version to keep.

By now, I think the best is to contribute to the translation so I will receive back my own translations. Only, I do not know when my proposed translations will be reviewed and approved so that I can get them back from the site

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Try contacting the author about wanting to contribute to translation.
