• Recently I moved a blog from one host to another, and thus the absolute path to the WP files has changed due to the different underling folder structure on the servers.

Everything moved over as expected, but the media library images reported an error about not being able to find the file due to the absolute path change. I’ve attempted to correct this by doing a find replace on the database to both the new absolute path, and removing the absolute path attempting a relative path. I was met with the same outcome from both attempts. The media library files now display only at full size.

If anyone has any tips as to where I should start looking for the problem please let me know.

  • I have solved the problem and wrote small tools which properly updates path in sql dump… Let me know, if you are still interested in it.

Hi stenavin, I would be interested in your technique, because I’m browsing the database quite desoriented.

I recently uploaded the blog from my computer to the server, and it seems like the path to the images in the database have kept the https://localhost adress.

I try to change in Settings > Misc > paths-to-images boxes but nothing seems to change : in the Media Uploader every image kepts ‘hidden’ (you know : white square, little red crossed signal, localhost thing when expanded), except the new images I’m uploading, which work OK. If I try to change, again inside the Media Uploader, the paths to the images, nothing changes : they keep as a localhost hosted images.

Please if you have some solution to this I’d be hugely grateful.

    Hi, Dunkkan!

Sorry for delay, but WordPress doesn’t send notification about new replies.

As I said, I had wrotten small tool, which correctly replaces old_path to a new one in sql dump. You can download it from my site: https://ivanets.kiev.ua/moving-wordpress-to-new-server/
