Change of position of Search Bar

I would like to put the search bar either in the Navigation bar or above the Navigation bar, bottom right of the header (not using an image just the title and tag line which I would like to move closer to the left margin — help on that also would be appreciated).

Both navigation and site info are supplied by the core. Does anyone know how to insert the code for the search bar without delving into the core?
