Change Language / Edit language files

    Hey there!
    Im wondering why its not possible for me to change the language. There are german and russian language files in /wp-content/languages/plugins for activity plus. But I dont know where to change the language for activity plus. Editing/replacing/adding files in /plugins/buddypress-activity-plus/languages wont work either. Im not the best with php so I have not tried to fiddle around with the plugins files.
    My wordpress is set to de_DE if that matters. I hope you can help me out.

    Hey there @jankaron,

    This is definitely possible but rather than changing anything in the php or plugin files you should use plugins translation files to change those strings to which ever language you want.

    You’ll find more information on how to do that by following this link.

    Oh I know that. I found and changed parts of the PO file with Poedit, but it did not seem to work.
    That is my problem. Sorry I didn’t made that clear I guess.
    I thought there might be a problem with how the language files are accessed.
    Maybe I’m missing something. But I added a PO and MO file to the language folder. Other plugins work fine like that.

    Hey again @jankaron,

    I’ve tested this on my sandbox site using German language in the settings (https://screencast.com/t/HHsbORvJJQov) and everything worked properly.

    Can you please make sure both your .po and .mo files are named bpfb-de_DE, and also that you have Deutsch selected in Settings -> General as displayed in screenshot above. If that’s already done try moving translation files to the plugin language folder directly, that would be in /wp-content/plugins/buddypress-activity-plus/languages/

    Apparently I had a spelling error in the name of the PO file -_-
