    hey,

    I have the following situation.

a plugin is only translated in “de_DE_formal” but I want to use “de_De” for the theme and wordpress in general.

How can I change a language from formal to normal so I can use both translations, when the general language is set to “de_De”?

Loco Translate can’t help you with this situation.

It has no function that provides language fallback. The only part it plays in file selection is permitting MO files to be found under alternative directories. It does not try alternative file names.

You could probably find some other plugin that can do what you need, but I don’t know of any.

    Hey,

    Thanks for your answer.
But would it work to just rename the language / file / code from the theme so I can use the normal german version instead of the formal german version?

If so, how would I need to accomplish this exactly?

    Thanks!

Possibly renaming some file would work. Or possibly it would make a mess. I can’t offer you support in this matter. I provide a file editor. How you juggle your various files and language codes is down to how your theme and plugins work.
