    Hi Thomas, hi Jordy,

in the meantime I installed another of your plugins ??

Concerning the Meow Gallery Plugin, I do have the following idea for further development. As all pictures are displayed in a defined number of columns, the portrait oriented pictures are much larger than the landscape oriented ones. Panorama style pictures (e.g. 2:1 ratio) are displayed even less prominent.

Therefore, is there any chance for the masonry display to be somehow more flexible in this regard? E.g., if landscape oriented pictures are displayed over two columns, they would have the same size as portrait oriented images. Panorama pictures could even be displayed over three columns. Also the overall layout would look much more pleasant and not restricted to the columns.

Do you think that would be possible?

    Cheers,
    Andreas

  • Hello Andreas !

Nice to see that you tried this plugin as well !

You are right, Masonry layout is far from perfect when it comes to dealing with portraits / landscapes.

You might want to try the Justified layout, giving more space to landscapes images ( it’s like masonry, except it’s now rows instead of columns ). I personally think it’s easier to understand the order of the photos with the Justified layout.

What you are asking, is indeed quite complex from an algorithmic point of view. But I was definitely thinking of a way to do this, I haven’t figured it out yet!

But to answer your question, yes, it must be possible, but it will be long, and my guess is that pictures will have to be cropped when displayed.

I will definitely have a closer look to this and keep you updated !

    Best regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

thanks for your quick answer. I tried the Justified layout, but it was somehow messy with my theme. Actually, I do not care very much about the order of the images, as they are arraneged randomly anyway. However, on a long term perspective, I am looking forward to seeing your implementation of a Mosaic layout ??

You are already doing a great job! Please continue that way!

    Cheers,
    Andreas
