change caption location in tiled column gallery

I’m redoing a client website, I built the image galleries as jetpack tiled column gallery blocks, then found that they don’t display captions so I changed the the classic editor. Now the captions show as an overlay, but I don’t like text covering the image.
How do I move the captions below the images in the jetpack tiled column gallery? Not as an overlay? I’m not having any luck with CSS. Can’t seem to find the correct class.

Thanks for these links! I gave it a try and it kind of works: now the captions show up below the images when hovering over an image. It’s a work in progress…
