Change Image in Slideshow by clicking link in the same page.

Here is what I’m trying to do.

I have a table. I’d like the items in the table to have a link that is clickable. When you click the link, an image of the item shows up above the table.

I’m not sure if the solution for this is so simple I’m overlooking it, or so complex it cannot be handled by a plug-in and I need a theme that is capable of it.

My initial thought was putting in a slideshow above the table and then having the link change the slideshow to the corresponding image.

Any suggestions whether they be code, plug-ins or themes would be greatly appreciated…this is driving me nuts!! ??
