Change href link from default post

Hi Bill,

I’ve been loving and using this plugin for many sites. I have one thing I haven’t tried before and am not sure how to do.

I have a “Books we recommend” horizontal flexbox list that I intend to slide back and forth. With this I have a custom post type with ACF fields for url and author. What I can’t seem to do is change the default functionality to have my custom field url in place of the links going to my post (which really won’t be shown, I’m just using for modularity and custom fields). The custom field url will go to an external website.

I do know how to pull the custom fields and apply with the ‘display_posts_shortcode_output’ filter, just not how to replace both the featured image and title link entirely with it.

I’ve looked through the docs and even the code, but couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I see the code where it gets the ‘the_permalink’ but as it is hard coded, I’m not sure how to change.

I’m wondering if you have any advice.
