Change homepage from blog to static page

  • I’ve been using Brunelleschi since setting up my wordpress site, and I love it. I initially started my site as a blog, but am now using it more and more for business; as a place to direct my clients. I don’t want to eliminate the blog or any of its existing content, but I would like to make a static homepage and migrate the blog to it’s own “blog” page on the site. This theme does have a static homepage option, but since my homepage is currently where my blog (and all of its existing content) is, I’m not sure how to utilize the option / make the change.

    Any help would be incredibly appreciated!!

  • Go to Settings>Reading and the top says change home page to static. Choose your page. Then you can choose where you want the blog (they should not be the same).

    Thank you josiah.boyd… does this apply easily when the front page is currently a blog page? I know how to do it setting up a brand new site, my issue is that I’ve had the site running for nearly a year, with most of the content on that page. I don’t want to loose the content, I just want to have it on a different page, and have the homepage be static.
    (Sorry if I’m not explaining this well. I’m not a very proficient WordPress / code user and rely heavily on the options / tools that are built in. I realize this probably makes it difficult to do this myself…)

    Your blog should move to the page that you select for posts in the settings>reading area. Feel free to contact me if you need to save time.

    This is so helpful, thank you so much.
    I’m still not 100% clear on how to do this from start to finish.
    I know where to find the options in the settings. But do I need to first create the static page? Or the new blog page, prior to changing the reading settings?
    Ideally what my homepage is now will become https://www.bestofher.com/BLOG, and the static page will be https://www.bestofher.com …do I create the blog page first (leaving it blank)? Or will it somehow automatically be created / the content will move there once the static page is the homepage?
    (I’m sure you can tell how little I know/understand about these things… thank you for your patience and help!)

    I would recommend creating a page called “blog”. The home page will show up as the home page, but I would recommend a page called “home” for that.
