change “home” and deleting “about” in nav bar

Hi,
I’m using and trying to tweak the Neoclassical theme. I want to change the “home” link in the navigation bar to a new name and get rid of the “about” link.

I found the nav bar php file which has these two names mentioned and I deleted the one and changed the other but there’s no change when I reloaded the blog

does anyone know how to fix this problem. Should I be doing these adjustments in the Neoclassical theme files? or is it in the base wordpress files? if possible, please specify how to make the changes. Thanks
