Cool plugin. I was able to get the hamburger menu to show up in Genesis 2. This hides a the large amount of real estate from the original Primary and Secondary Menus. Now, is there a way to theme the hamburger menu drop be more of a text dropdown list of some sort. Right now, click on the hamburger icon just shows the original menu. As of today, most of the Pro Genesis themes does not contain mobile friendly menus. A dropdown menu cannot be retracted and is just not nice looking.

Let me know if there is a way to re-skin the drop down hamburger menu.

    Thanks again!

@mealto, when you mention dropdown, do you mean a menu that overlays the existing site rather than pushing it down? Or put another way the menu floats above the site content until it is clicked or the user moves off the memu?

If you have an example of a site which has this type of menu then please post the URL

    Thanks

    Hi Russel,

The best example would be something like this. https://www.hillaryrettig.com/

See the Primary menu. Make your screen smaller to less than about 400 pixels. You will see it in action.

Once the Hamburger Menu show sup, there might be a better way to organize the Primary Menu and Sub Menus but I just wanted to show an example.

Facebook (when using mobile to visit) has a good Hamburger Menu.

Let us know if we can do something similar with your plugin. Thanks in advance!

Or, another type of mobile responsive menu goes like this. Not sure if I like it or not but:

Once screen size is below a pixel width, a “Menu” link replaces the entire Primary Menu. Clicking on it takes you to the footer of the site with a mobile friendly menu displayed. Here is an example: https://groupe-css.com/home/#mobile-footer-nav-menu

Hope those examples help. Genesis owners really need a good way to manage menus. Out of the box, the Genesis menus are only ok; not as good as it could be. Hoping your plugin could make the Menus great!

    Thanks for those examples.

The first one was the ultra flexible megamenu Ubermenu. However, I did not really like how it operated when the hamburger was expanded to reveal two columns of links and then on further expansion of a 2nd column menu the submenu links appeared in the first column. But other than this, the principle and the effect is fine.

I particularly like the footer menu approach in the second example, however I think it important not to move the entire menu to the footer as the 2 or 3 most commonly used items can get lost in the crowd. I would prefer to leave the most commonly used menu items in the header.

As usual, the best solution is “it depends”….

It depends on the depth of the menu, on the number of menu items, and the importance of those items.

Therefore what it is needed is flexibility so the site owner can choose the layout that best suites his/her menu.

It seems that each menu needs its own setting: none/expandable/footer.

I will bear all this in mind in the next release

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for taking some feedback. Love your plugin!

@mealto, After some research, I am planning on integrating the SIDR (on the side mobile responsive menu) jQuery script into the plugin

I think the following integration would meet most of your needs:

    • Location of side menu on right or left
    • Application to a single or multiple menus
    • Site Search box
    • Maybe some more color schemes

    What are your thoughts?

Genesis Club Lite 1.3 has the SIDR menu integrated so you can apply the hamburger to

    1. Primary Menu
    2. Secondary Menu
    3. Header Right Widget Menu

    And choose

    1. Drop down menu below hamburger
    2. Slider menu from the left
    3. Slider menu from the right
