Changing your email address is done by changing it in the admin area. What you may need to do is TRAIN your SPAM filtering to allow for emails coming from your domain that you are using as your default email.

I always recommend that users use a valid DOMAIN for emails and NOT any of the free services like Yahoo, hotmail etc as they are known spam hosts.

@bottway, check to make sure your email domain has a valid SPF record and that the SMTP server you are using to deliver mail is the one authorized by that SPF. If you’re using a free service like Yahoo, hotmail etc. the SPF record is already set for you, you just have to use the right SMTP server.

Another alternative is to use Mandrill to have better control over your email handling as it is sent from your host, via WordPress native email handler. For that we highly recommend wpMandrill. In fact it is just one of several Plugins we recommend for integration with Job Manger

But my application emails are set to come from the applicant’s email address, not my default admin email address. How do I change this setting? Thanks so much!

Your application Emails are sent TO the Address you specify in the Administration Settings of Job Manager. They are sent FROM your WordPress Install via WP default mailer SMTP. The email does contain whatever information you did NOT BLOCK from the “App FORM Settings page”.

Here is the header from my application email:
    —–Original Message—–
    From: andrew owens [mailto:[email protected]]
    Sent: Friday, April 03, 2015 9:11 AM
    To: Tim Hagood
    Cc: Brad Howell; Keith Wilson
    Subject: Job Application: andrew owens

SO, it is sent FROM the applicant’s email address, right?
I’m so sorry for the trouble. I am trying VERY hard to understand.
I don’t want the FROM to be my applicant’s email address. I would love for it to be from MY WordPress admin address.

NO – what your showing is NOT the full header information.

It is coming from your WP admin. What Email Service are you using ?

I just sent you an email with screen shots that will hopefully clear up the issue for you.

@bottway Wait, if you’re sending FROM someone else’s address, then that IS spam. The big three providers, especially Yahoo, are only going to let you send from your own address.

What you want to do is set to come from an address YOU own, and set the reply-to to the applicant’s address:

    From: “Botway Applications” <[email protected]>
    To: Tim Hagood
Cc: Brad Howell; Keith Wilson; Andrew Owens
    Reply-To: “Andrew Owens” <[email protected]>

Jason, That’s not the case...and unfortunately you did not see the email I sent to her that covered the details. You are correct in your comment IF that’s the way we were doing this however, WE DON’T.

Job Manager sends email from the default (OWNED) email of either A. The Administrators User account or B. email address assigned by category, also owned by the USER.

Perhaps their might be a way for us to collaborate on future enhancements with regards to email features in Job Manager. You seem to be very knowledgeable in that area. Let me know if your interested and we can connect and I can fill you in a bit more on how we do function, conference call ?

    Thanks

Wow Postman, you totally Don’t get it ….LOL That’s not the case…and unfortunately you did not see the email I sent to her that covered the details. You are correct in your comment IF that’s the way we were doing this however, WE DON’T.

Hello Thomas. I meant no disrespect to your or the fine work you’ve done in your plugin. My response was based solely on the behaviour I’ve seen from using a Yahoo FROM address during my own testing.

Please don’t interject and comment on a plugin that you appear to not be familiar with?

You are correct, I don’t know the details and I haven’t seen the email between you two. Please accept my appologies.

    Jason,

I hope you did get a chance to re-read the EDITED comment above. After I posted, it and read it, I thought my first response was way off base. You were trying to help and your also extremely knowledgeable in your own field. There is much I can learn from you that will aid in improving our mail features for sure.

I am the one that should apologize. From now on I will write my responses on a different medium and then post the completed/edited.

    Thanks

    Tom
