I noticed the change frequency of pretty much all of my posts is set to ‘Yearly’, probably because I don’t update the post content very often. The problem is, when new comments get published, the info on the page changes quite significantly.

Is there a way I can modify the ‘change frequency’ of my posts?

At one point during the creation of the sitemap specification the intention of frequency was to help instruct the bots how often they should crawl the page. Of course people would set this to daily (and the priority to max) in hopes it would benefit the crawling of the site. Nowadays the engines determine their own crawl rate. They only significant fields are the url and when it was last changed.

When you post/publish the plugin will ping Google and Bing to let them now there is something now on the site and it needs crawling.

I guess Google can do whatever it likes (which is probably a good thing from the point of view of a Google searcher looking for info). I was just a little worried that different bots may take change frequency into consideration and decide not to re-crawl
