Does the pro version allow you to change the path the files are saved in. I need to choose a directory that is not in the public_html path.

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Yes, but the directory needs to be relative to your WordPress home folder. Other locations are not allowed for security reasons.

sounds good. It’s funny, I was thinking about keeping the files from the html path to prevent them from being viewable by the website without the plugin.

We can just use some .htaccess passwords to keep people out of it.

    Thanks,

Simple File List (free) uses plain old URLs to access files on the front-end. So putting them in a non-public area wouldn’t work.

Yes, if on an Apache / LiteSpeed web server you can protect from outside direct linking (hotlinking) using .htaccess. People on Nginx and IIS need to use other methods.

Simple File List also drops a blank index.html in each folder it creates to prevent someone accessing a server-generated index.
