    Hi WF-Team,

I have a free version of Wordfence on a subdomain and would now like to change the domain name to the main domain name. Have unfortunately found nothing in the documentation how to do this. Thank you for your feedback.
    kind regards Martina

Hi @markeck, thanks for reaching out.

If you’re moving the site to the root directory, a different server/host, or changing the directory name, then you should remove WAF optimization first and follow the steps detailed in our migration guide: https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/#migrate-with-wordfence

If the site is staying in the same directory/location on your server and it’s just the domain being mapped to the existing site, Wordfence should remain in a working state as optimization (for example) refers to the path in your directory structure rather than rely on the web address. Any scan results that show the old subdomain location will update after the next scan.

If you’re using reCAPTCHA, don’t forget to make sure Google has the domain in its Domains List. Also if you’re using Wordfence Central you may need to disconnect the site and reconnect it using the new domain.

I hope that helps you out!
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,
thanks for your quick feedback. The site has remained in the same directory on the same server only the subdomain has been replaced by the main domain. The scan results also match only the notifications (issue-link) are still running on the subdomain (or even partially wrong composed subdomain name .<last part of subdomain>).
    Thanks for your help

    Kind regards Martina

    Hi Peter,

I still have a problem with the WF notifications under tools. As already described above in the mail, but maybe overread.

I get the wordfence alerts to a wrong URL in the backend. So not the new main domain micromat.de but the so-called <transition domain>.<server> . How can I correct this now to the main domain in the Wordfence interface. In the dashboard URLs of “Manage Firewall” and “Manage Scan” are correct. Thanks for your help.

    Kind regards Martina
