Change content page posts to horizontal

Hi

I really need a help here if its possible. I want to change the homepage post column from default 2 to just one but want the featured image to float on the left while the date and post excepts to float on the right beside the image.

How can i achieve this with the child theme.

This is my new site, I have tried some tricks with custom css but having trouble with floating the post except to align under the date
