Change color in navigationbar for seperate forums

I have created a menu (for main navigation) with about 6 different forums and im trying to set different colors for each one of them just like you do with categories. Unfortunately this only works for categories and pages in the Theme options and you cant change forumcolor in the navigationbar.

Im trying not not to create the forums as categories with subforums because I want the visitor to have a better overview over the forum when the click on the navigationbar.

Anyone who knows how to change this?

custom link is not supported.
you need to work around the css, i cannot guide you on css customization.

maybe add something like this in theme option->custom css for start
