Yoast by default adds type:CollectionPage to category pages, with no apparent way to change this behavior in the options. This however negatively impacts SEO as CollectionPage doesn’t support rich snippets according to Google.

Is there a way to change this so that it would do type: WebPage instead? And in general, why is there no “Schema” tab on category pages?

    Hello Dankop,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your site’s structured data.

We do not show an option to change the schema or select a PageType for category pages. However, that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be schema for that taxonomy. The Yoast SEO plugin should automatically output it. It would still be marked up as a ‘CollectionPage’. You can learn more about it here – https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/pieces/webpage/#taxonomy-indexes
