I tried using :News in the subject line to change the category but it still went to the default category.

I have also tried using the :start so my text would show but still no text.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks again Wayne, worked perfectly…
    I read the instructions incorrectly.
“If you put a category name in the subject with a : it will be used as the category for the post”
I had been putting : before the category and not after it.

    Thanks for a great plugin

    Glad you’ve got it working.

Same problem. I put the colon after the category, doesn’t work. I tried the squares. Doesn’t work. I left off everything on the subject line except the category. What happens it that is all gets posted to a page. What did i miss?

Did you turn off the “Use colon to match category” setting?

I have colon turned on and the other matches turned off. In my trial I place just this in the subject line, campaigns:

I left off any other subject line text except the category.

Just curious but do you have a page set up for just the one category?
You said everything gets posted to one page. Postie creates the post with the defined Category but it’s WP that say’s what Categories it will show.
First thing, go to posts and see if your email post is there. Next try creating a menu item from categories and select the Category you want to show. Then select that menu item on your page and see if it shows up.

I have a category called “Breaking News” with a page for it and I have a category called “campaigns” and it has a page. Both categories also show the most recent content on the home page. An hour or so back, I deleted everything, so to do your experiment i will need to issue an email again. No problem, but this is what I will do. On the subject line I will only place campaign:. That is the word campaign followed by a colon. Here goes!

Finished. The Postie did not post to its page or the home page. It posted as a new regular page.

I created the category post and it posted to its page and also to the home page. It looks like I don’t have some setting right for the email to have its category recognized.

You said you have a “Page” for Breaking news. Are you using code or a plugin to put those Posts on a page? Did you try to add a menu item using the Category feature? It’s below the add Links option.

Can you provide the link to the page?

Is the category in the email identical to the category in your Category listing. Even the case of the letters?

Just realized something, when you email this is anything posting anywhere?
If not what is the frequency of your email retrieve? Or did you manually retrieve it? Also did you set your to email to allow retrieval?
