Do you provide any hook / filter to change the texts of the buttons with the class”paypal-button-text” or is there any other way?

    Hi @peterlarsenpan,

The tagline is delivered by PayPal directly and depends on the system language (not just browser language). For example, visiting a site with a German system will load a German tagline while the English system language causes the English tagline to be loaded.
With the plugin, you can only choose to enable/disable the tagline, but since the text is loaded directly from PayPal, you cannot modify or translate it.
We are providing some different options for the button label, but there is no customization of the tagline available.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hey Niklas,
    thanks for your quick response.

In that case this plugin is may not allowed to be used by law in several EU countries. The labeling with “Buy” is not sufficient with sufficient legal certainty.

    Hi @peterlarsenpan,

Can you please give a more concrete example of which labeling you mean?
The tagline and button label are two separate things, but neither displays only a “Buy” label.

You can customize the button label in the plugin settings for every individual button (product page, [mini] cart, checkout).
But the tagline only has an on/off switch.
In both cases, the text/information is loaded directly from PayPal, which means there is no filter for further customization of the text.
Since we develop the plugin in direct cooperation with PayPal, I doubt there are any legal issues with how the buttons are displayed, but I will gladly pass along the info if you can share more details about what brings you to this conclusion.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Nilas,

see https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Button-L%C3%B6sung in Germany, for instance.

A button that only says “PayPal” (in cart / product pages) or “Mit PayPal zahlen” (German) (on checkout page) may not be legally permissible. But I am not a legal expert. The colleagues from PayPal will surely already know that, so that no store owner gets into trouble (hopefully).

    Hi @peterlarsenpan,

The “buy now” button label “Jetzt kaufen” is the one that makes the most sense for German merchants and should not cause any legal trouble. But I suggest consulting a legal expert in your jurisdiction if you want to be sure.
Our next plugin update will add the opportunity for plugins like Germanized to make certain modifications (like button positioning or default labels) that can make the integration smoother.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas
