Change Blog Categories ID so I can reorder titles

  • Hello

    Blog categories are always displayed alphabetically but I understand that if you change the time/date of the categories when they were created you can reorder them that way. Blog posts can be done in this way but you can’t do it directly with category titles.

    I looked into the MySQL database but when you find the category there is no time or date to change?

    Can someone please advise where I should be looking to accomplish my quest?

    Thank you I tried that and it didn’t work.

    As far as I am aware there is no built-in way to reorder categories (or any taxonomy) in WordPress. In order to do this, you will need to use a plugin like the one suggested above, or write some custom code to handle the order for you.

    Thank you Hugh. As mentioned I did try that plug-in and it didn’t work also I found another one but that doesn’t seem to have any changes on the website.

    Don’t know why you blocked my other thread but this is a different question, surely you can see that Steven. Annoying you closed it, read this again:

    However, having tried out the suggestions, they didn’t work unfortunately. I have since found out the Category ID is contained in a table called wp_terms so I would like to know if there is a piece of code I can use to order the Category titles on my page by their ID number contained in field name term_order

    If I’m not posting in the correct forum, then please let me know.

    Just thought I would post back and say I have managed to resolve my issue and also want to say thanks a bunch Steven for closing one of my posts which you clearly didn’t read.
    As a moderator it’s the least you could have done which might have helped us lesser mortals to progress and learn.
