I have a bunch of products that have a few variations each. They all have a attribute called “Filter Size”, which is set on each product. I just need to change the name of this attribute to something “Duct Opening Size”, but changing it seems to break all variations, changing all of them to “Any Duct Opening Size”.

    Before change:
    Attribute
    Variations

    After change:
    Attribute
    Variations

I guess there must be a way to do this without breaking everything, since this is a quite simple change, but I just don’t see how to do it. Is this just me or is it happening to everyone?

    All comments appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey @kronikon,

With Custom Attributes if you were to change the Name of those after creating the variations you would see the behaviour which you’ve described above as the variations are tied to that Name which you specified. This is why you’re seeing the Any Duct Opening Size text for all variations after you’ve changed the main attribute Name, changing the name back to it’s original Filter Size will revert the variations back to what they were.

If you decide to change the Name of a custom attribute after variations have been created from that you will need to either individually reassign the variations or recreate those after doing so.

    I hope this helps.

    Howdy!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you have any other questions please start a new thread.

    Cheers!
