    I’m using 2.7.1 and I have phpMyAdmin – 2.11.9.4.

I’m trying to change the ‘admin’ name in the SQL database (since it can’t be deleted from WP as far as I can see), but all the tutorials don’t seem to apply.

This site gives a tutorial, but I don’t see the amount of information they show in the video tutorial: https://www.francescolanza.com/2007/10/24/password-admin-reset/

    Here’s what I see: https://i40.tinypic.com/4j3yh2.jpg

How can I change the ‘admin’ name if there’s no way to edit?!

    *EDIT*!!!!

I found out what the problem is… I had to click on ‘Export’ tab and THEN ‘Browse’ before the email and editable data was made visible.

  • You can change the admin name in WP. Pick a new name, give it admnin privdleges. Sign back in as the new name, delete Admin.

Nah, you can’t delete the admin name… I tried that initially. I moved all the posts to a new user name with admin priv, but WP didn’t allow the delete. I resolved it though… the tutorials need to be updated for new PHPAdmin versions.

bplank I glad you worked it out but, deleting the Admin name in WP using the method I posted works exactly as I stated.

You are changing the myPHP admin name which is different than changing the admin name in WP so I must have misunderstood.
