• I’ve made the 0.91 BETA release available:
    https://www.chait.net/index.php?p=147
It provides easy populating of a database full of your favorite Amazon products, and quick adding to your template for displaying recent and random items.
Supports pretty much any product listed on Amazon (at least first-party items — anything with an ASIN), in every catalog — games, toys, music, dvds, books, electronics, apparel, you name it!
Basic locale support, though I’ve only ever tested US (people wanting to try outside of US should talk to me).
    Any Qs, fire away!

Yeah, for that many things certainly doesn’t sound off.
I’ve tuned CHAITGEAR to be around high-teens/low-20s generally, though as I add more customization it’ll go up. Generally shooting to stay in the low to mid 20s though. But, that’s just me and my site. ??
Anyhow, let me know when you get the PowerPack installed, and get to try it out.

ANYONE USING CG-AMAZON will want to grab the newest CG-PowerPack, now up to 1.0b14.
Major fixes were made for bugs which were causing extended/long queries, especially in the new Admin interface ‘Search’ function.

Alright, I give. Post a beta along with an expiration date!!

    Heh! ??
Gee, maybe I should spend a few months writing an auto-updater system that can detect when it is out of date from code on CHAITGEAR and download the latest incarnations… yeah, right!
I have considered other options, such as going whole-hog GPL and hosting things on sourceforge or something, or at the least putting stuff into version control (CVS or maybe subversion) if I could find a site to host it, so that people could more easily ‘refresh’ files.
I certainly hope by now I’m doing a pretty good job of isolating configuration stuff from the main code, so that tweaks don’t require merging or anything. Let me know if I’ve missed things along the way that’d make life easier.
Oh, and I AM still thinking about a templating system for CG-Amazon and CG-Feedread that’d let ‘power users’ basically have complete stylized output control. I’m just trying to figure out how to do it without it becoming a headache down the line (i.e., easy to use, maintain, and not something people will be breaking left and right…).

Just an update, for people watching this thread specifically.
b15 was up a few days ago — barring download hiccups. Has a number of continued improvements.
At Alex Jones’ request/suggestion, already working on b16 with some added enhancements:
    – option to disable ‘target’ in links
    – ‘proper’ closing of img tags
    – new ‘SmallMedium’ image size support (when available)
If anyone else has things they were waiting on, let me know here, or the Extending CG-Amazon thread, or the CG-PowerPack thread. ?? Thanks!

I continually keep getthing this error ??

    Amazon:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: show_amazon_items() in /home/bball2/public_html/ash/index.php on line 140

    Edit:
Slaps himself on the wrist, how silly of me forgot to activate the plugin =P. Great plugin!

All though I got a few links to be working around 90% of the ids I try I get this error

Result = [ERROR_QUERYING_AMAZON] in a green background at the top of the cga-admin page.

    Any Ideas?

Anyone have any luck getting CG-Amazon to work with WordPress 1.5? I got it working on my 1.2 install, but when I add the CGA to the admin menu and click on it all I get is a blank page. Is there another way to manually create the tables in the WP database? Thanks in advance.

I wasn’t going to work on 1.5 compatability until it was close to coming out, and it was just released… silly me. ??

I will TRY to get some work done on this in the next day or so. I have a complete CG-PowerPack running against a 1.5a from December, so it may just require a newer version.

    -d

Aack. I love CG Power Pack and have it installed on my 1.2.2 WP blog. I was going to upgrade this weekend, but I’ll stand pat until the features I “can’t live without” (e.g., Chaitgear plugins, Backup/Restore, Text Replace, to name a few) can (as Uma Thurman’s character said in the movie “Pulp Fiction”) “catchup.” Catchup.

trying, trying. unfortunately, excepting the little trickles of $ from amazon pass-through sales, I’m not making any earnings from the extensive work on plugins. Thus, my paying work must take precedence… ??

But I’m trying to get to it… gimme a day or two to get organized around here.

Thanks a lot man, we all really appreciate it.

no prob. doing what I can to support/improve the WP community! ??

I don’t mean to rush you at all, but is there any estimation on when you will get this plugin 1.5 compatible? I’m all set to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.5 as soon as I get this updated plugin. Thanks again.
