• I’ve already posted on other threads about this ongoing issue, however am starting my own in the hope I can get a better solution than simply disabling all my other plugins and using a different theme.

As mentioned in other threads, since upgrading to CF7 v5.4 all my forms on roughly 90 different websites stop working. They work for a day or two fine with no console errors, but then fail. If I flush the cache of the site, they work again for a day or two and then fail again. As per other threads, it appears to relate to this:

    url: “https://c4.dev.c4concepts.com.au/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php?action=rest-nonce”

In order to access this site (as it is still in development) I have an .htaccess block on the page. The access details to bypass that and see the site are:

    U: webdev
    P: webdevaccess

NOTE: This does not happen with the previous version of CF7. It happens after updating to 5.4 only and happens on over 90 websites with varying plugins and custom themes. The issue is 100% relating to code changes in the version 5.4 update and needs a resolution urgently please.

The same happened to me as well, CF v5.4 issues with sending e-mails and problems when user trying to submit form the second time, it deesn’t get any error back and can’t send mail.

Also keen to see an update on this issue as we are seeing it with 60+ sites, all also using varied custom themes and plugins.

    Hey Guys,
While you are waiting on a fix, i’d recommend downgrading to v5.3. We just had to do that this morning on 30 of our sites and will need to do it on the rest later today. It will at least work as a stop gap for you so your clients don’t have any disruption.

    Cheers!

Hi @solonox, yes we’ve done that thanks ?? I posted elsewhere in this forum about a known vuln in 5.3 so not keen leaving it on that version for too long! (Details of vuln not included for obvious reasons)

    Hi @joshbedford,
Yep, don’t like running a potentially insecure version on nearly 100 client sites, but the only other alternative is to consider changing every web-form over to WP Forms or Gravity Forms, but that is just a daunting thought and not practical.
I had hoped to have this acknowledged by the developer by now. Over a month of responses suggesting changing themes and deactivating plugins is not good at all, and clearly the issue is too wide-spread and varied to be the fault of every other plugin developer on the planet right?
Fingers crossed I wake up tomorrow and see the changelog for the new version addressing the issues everyone has flagged for over a month now.
    Fingers crossed!

Further issues picked up today. We have a clients cf7 notification email passing through lists of products as part of a quote enquiry system. When the enquiry is sent, it captures the contents of the users cart and passes the product list through along with the enquiry notification. We accidentally updated this clients CF7 form to 5.4 yesterday and I arrived to an email this morning saying the workflow was broken and the form is not listing the products from the cart. I logged into the admin and noticed 5.4 running, so I rolled back to the previous version, and what do you know…. all is working fine again.
It seems that CF7 5.4 is broken on so many levels, it might be easier to start back at the previous version and forget 5.4 all together.
Really becoming a major issue now and with no constructive reply from the developer, we’re just flapping in the wind waiting for a resolution with no real end in site?

    n relation to this topic-

We noticed 2 issues: 1) avada mobile fly-in menu stopped working 2) CF7 forms failing send, indicating “spam” all the time.

Removed recaptcha keys – did not help – but got instead a going-forever spinner on Submit.

Deactivated plugin Async JavaScript Version 2.20.12.09 | By Frank Goossens (futtta) – CF7 is submitting now OK again AND avada flyin menus seem to be back to working.
    Haven’t re-integrated recaptcha yet.
    Cheers
