CF7 5.0.2 No longer sending email

    I have recently updated a number of my client sites with CF7 5.0.2 (and WP 4.9.6) and in the past couple days at least one client reported their email forms are giving an error message … “fail to send”. I went in and tested and sure enough it not working. The strange thing is that I tested it on another client site and it appears to be working. I have not yet tried all my clients (15 sites) to see if this is an isolated case. To be clear, everything was working fine before the update.

    So, I did as many suggest to “fix” the problem, and I installed and configured Easy WP SMTP. Well, the SMTP part is working fine in testing but CF7 does not appear to be using it, and the forms still fail to send.

    Are there any known plugin conflicts out there with 5.0.2? I have never had any issues with CF7. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Oliver,

    Try to do the typical procedure in this cases; disable all your plugins unless CF7 and try it.

    If it works active one per one while your testing for each step.

    Once you find a problem you know where is the problem.

    Give me more feedback with that.

    Thank for the advice Met. I disabled all non-essential plugins and enable one at a time and tested. Finally, I discovered the culprit … WPShapere has an email section that was not set up correctly (invalid email address). I fixed that section and everything worked again ??
