Cloned working website & moved to new host. Same URL.

    WordPress 6.2.2 / PHP 8.0 / CF7 5.7.7

Existing CF7 forms showed ‘Form’ info, but ‘Mail’ is now empty.

Clicking ‘Save’ on existing form gives error ‘Forbidden 403 – Do not have resource access’.

Creating new form via ‘Add new’ creates a form with short code ‘[contact-form-7 id=”0″ title=””]’ that cannot be edited.

Disabling all plugins (except CF7) & using default theme makes no difference. Using ‘Health Check & Troubleshooting’ plugin to disable all did not help.

    Would appreciate some help. Thankyou

What other plugins and theme do you use on the site?

Issue resolved after much investigation & some strange side-effects.

I had some special characters in the Form HTML, which worked when the site was hosted at GoDaddy, but not when on new host. (Same PHP & WordPress level. Same plugins & versions).

Think these special characters are called “Miscellaneous Symbols”. In my case, the “Cross of Lorraine”.

eg: “<p>Example of special character that caused the problem: ☨</p>”

When this was loaded as a Contact Form, the ‘MAIL’ tab contents was blank. When “Save” was clicked, I got “403 Forbidden – you don’t have permission to access this resource”.

After removing the “☨” in the FORM tab, it all worked as expected.
