    Hi Marko,

I hope you had a great week! I’m currently testing APO, went through some old threads on the topic, and about a year ago, you recommended others to disable the W3TC CF extension and use the original CF plugin for WordPress instead. Is that still your recommendation for using APO, or has something changed about the extension in the meantime?

Also, the available settings in the CF plugin are much smaller than in the W3TC extension: Do you think that maybe the W3TC extension does offer more performance and one should use APO without the official CF plugin instead?
I guess this would work as well, as I read in the CF documentation: “If you do not or cannot use our WordPress plugin, then APO will still provide the same performance benefits, but may serve stale content for up to 30 minutes and when the content is requested again.”

    Thanks and best regards,
    eC

    Hello @ecronik

Thank you for reaching g out and I am happy to assist you with this.
As you may have seen in my previous replies, there are no issues reported when it comes to using both Cloudflares APO and W3TC.
The reason for the recommendation not to use both the W3TC extension and the Cloudflare plugin is that the integration may cause issues.
The difference between the W3TC Cloudflare extension and the CF plugin is that the W3TC offers a lot more options for fine-tuning the CF instead of visiting the Cloudflare Dashboard, which is not the case with the CF plugin.
The possible conflict may be with the Browser Cache TTL which is set in Cloudflare to “respect existing headers”, meaning the headers set by the W3TC in the Browser Cache section, the APO may not expire and renew on time.
CF plugin has the APO integration and can manually renew the cache, and since the W3TC extension does not have this (It was primarily created to benefit the Free Cloudflare plan), APO cannot be modified by the W3TC.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks!
