    Dear Forum users,
Can someone help me with a certificate issue?
    I have a site (devriesjuwelier.nl) which I am first testing in staging = staging.devriesjuwelier.nl

I can assign a certificate to a domain from the dashboard by my hosting provider.
I did assign one to devriesjuwelier.nl
When I do, and browse to the URL of the staging, I am getting an error in the browser about an unvalid certificate. When using de DevTools of the Browser (F12), I see this error:
    This page is not secure
    Certificate missing
This site is missing a valid, trusted certificate
    net::ERR_CERT_Authority_Invalid.
When I unassign the certicate to the site, I get same error.

Also because of this, I cannot access the dashboard (back-end) of the site.
    Can someone help me?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • You are using an invalid SSL-certificate. You have to ask your hosting-provider for help with it as it is not a problem WordPress could help.

I suggest that you ask your hosting company whether their dashboard supports issuing wildcard certificates. If it does, create one as a replacement for your current certificate, and it will support all first-level subdomains (such as your staging site).

Otherwise, you should create a certificate for your staging subdomain.

    Thank you very much.
I think you have found the problem.
When I check the validity of the certificate at the domain level (going here https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-checker.htm) I get a valid certificate. When I do the same fort he subdomain, it says certificate is invalid.
I will close this thread because I can go furher now.

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not an Installing WordPress topic.

This is also a useful site for checking if your TLS cert is setup correctly.
